I walked out on the beach i fell down on my knees i looked up in the sky i said dear god please help me what is there left to do under this sky of you where efforts end in vain under some spitting rain just let me hear the truth am i a fool to you for seeking all i do or is it the beach blues i hear the ocean pound constant rhythm in sound i look down at the ground i said dear god please help me i search for something new hit by the deepest blue shackled and strained emotionally pained afraid to accept the truth i am a fool to you wallowing in this hue or is it the beach blues

when i was a boy i looked just like my son i played out in the alley until the day was done i dreamed of doing nothing deep inside my thoughts now i stop to wonder was it all for naught ‘cause today i bought my dog a steak to give him a taste of blood on his last day on this earth i love him so.... When i was a boy I played just like my girl Sharing all the good times With my little world I still dream of doing nothing No matter how i try Ideas overtake me Don't matter why But today i bought my dog a steak To give him a taste of blood On his last day on this earth Lord, I do love you so

I wanna know i wanna see just to believe in the TV you might say no that's not the way to go you might say wait you’re a writer in LA then we’ll go walk all down the block drive to the beach just beyond their reach I wanna blow My perfect angled nose Just to relieve My insecurities Feeling oh so low That's the only way to go ‘Cause I wanna be Like the writers in LA taking nice walks All ‘round the blocks Driving to the beach Well beyond their reach i wanna see Through palm trees way beyond the beach through your lengthy reach To celebrity To show us how to be Smelling like a rose In a Marlon Brando pose i wanna be i wanna proclaim just like the great writers in la

Red & Blue Triumphant Rues Twisted from the left Rolled up on the right Stand up Sit Down Believe without a fight Lay back and listen To sounds of disarray Floatin in a world with nothing much to say no one to help us no one to get along all by ourselves just singing our song Triumphant News Red White and Blue Triumphant Rues Hits me hard to my bones Movin’ in between The channels on a screen Nestled in a scene In a dark machine The air all around A smokey shale gray Filling up the halls Takin’ up the day No one to stop us No one to bring us down All by ourselves Just singing our song Triumphant News Red White and Blue Triumphant Rues Hits me hard

In the light Out of sight For tonight It all comes asunder On the flight Sun’s so bright For the fright Of the final blunder Time to Go Oh so Slow On without All in doubt Feel the plight Of the right All the might Don’t try to wonder From the height Take the bite Its not quite The sound of the thunder Time to Go Oh so Slow On within World in Sin

about

PDOGSTUDIOS is excited to release What Happened to You?, Backward Collective’s fourth LP. The album expands the palette of far-out soundscapes for which the Collective is known. The sound has been likened to a hybrid of Bill Callahan, J.J. Cale, and Thurston Moore. Additional instrumentation stretches the band into new sonic terrain this time around, including sax, dobro, mandolin, violin, clarinet, and organ. The release extends a sensibility that is deeply grounded in the blues, but engaging this unique American form in new ways. Philadelphia’s influential independent radio station, WXPN, called BC “nuanced and wonderfully produced; you feel yourself being washed-over with psychedelic elements rather than saturated, leaving the songs steeped in the early morning moments when you can’t quite tell what’s in your dream and what’s real.”

Listeners can hear Backward Collective on independent and college radio stations across the U.S. and can stream the band’s entire catalog on Spotify, itunes, YouTube, and most other streaming services. Mr. Presley’s other works can also be streamed, including PDOGSTUDIOS PRESENTS, Prankstar, and Certified Fools.
